How to build it
- Cut two sides at 18″, two ends at 10½″ and two floor slats at 16½″. Cedar or redwood will outlast pine outdoors.
- Screw the sides onto the ends to make an open box 12″ wide, predrilling so the ends don't split.
- Screw two short offcuts inside each side, ¾″ up from the bottom edge, as ledges for the slats.
- Drop in the floor slats with a gap between them for drainage.
- Line the box with landscape fabric before adding soil. It keeps the soil in and lets water out.
